The Physie Season & Competitions Explained

Each week in class the girls and ladies are taught the BJP syllabus which comprises marching and 5 routines -

1. Cardio
2. Floordrill
3. Relaxed (or Contemporary for seniors or Swing/Advanced for ladies)
4. Exercises
5. Dance

Generally we spend Terms 1 and 2 learning the routines (Feb - Jul) so we are ready for competitions in Terms 3 & 4.  Our teachers strongly encourage all members to participate in Individual and Team Competitions.  Even in individual competitions the girls / ladies are ALWAYS on the floor amongst a group of peers (it is not a solo performance).

Below is a breakdown of the competitions that we participate in.

Interclubs

Interclubs are 'friendly' competitions where the girls/ladies compete against girls/ladies from approx 8-10 other clubs.  These Interclubs help the girls/ladies prepare for the real competition and we strongly encourage ALL members to take part.  Participation in each Interclub is $15.

The 2024 Interclub competitions are:

• Balgowlah - Sunday 28 July
• Nepean - Sunday 18 August

Champion Girl / Lady

Champion Girl / Lady is the official BJP competition that all members 5yrs + can participate in.  Our teachers strongly encourage all members to take part - it is what we work for each week in class.  It is our aim to make competitions a fun environment while challenging the girls / ladies to step out of their comfort zones.  Participation in Champion Girl / Lady is $15.

Girls / Ladies Teams Day

In team competitions 8 girls / ladies come together to perform the syllabus in unison - it is all about team work but most importantly about having fun with your physie firiends.  Our teachers work hard to ensure that every girl / lady participates in a team if they wish.

• Dates to be confirmed by BJP (generally in November)

For individual competitions all girls are required to wear an official BJP leotard or performance wear. Performance Wear and Leotards are purchased from the BJP Physie Shop.

If you would like to purchase a second hand leotard / performance wear chat to our teachers about a Facebook page for swaps and sales.

For junior team competitions each member is required to wear the same black leotard.  For juniors the Club provides the leotard as part of Term Fees. 

For ladies team competitions members are required to purchase their own BJP Performance Wear. The Teaching Team will advise on the style required.
